Hunting Trip Pricing

Cost per single Hunter (3 day/4 night): $1,400.00*

Discounts available for pairs or groups up to 4 people.
Some Availability of “Single Day” guiding for traveling hunters: $400/500 per day (single/pair).

Fully guided hunt nestled in the quiet woods of the UP where grouse are found in coveys and woodcock hide among the conifers. Hunts will focus on pointed birds using primarily pointers & English setters in young mixed forests of balsam fir, aspen, and birch. Flush rates on grouse range from 15-30 per day typically.

Package Includes:

3 full days of hunting on low slope terrain in a diversity of high-quality grouse cover.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner from the time you arrive until you leave.
Comfortable accommodations in private lakeside cabin.
Transportation to and from hunting grounds each day. Pickup and delivery from local airport included.
Assistance with cleaning and packaging of birds.

* Trip cost does not include transportation to/from Michigan, ammunition, or license fees.

Booking Information:

Hunters may reserve up to 5 days within the hunt dates.
A $250/hunter deposit is required to hold spots prior to August 1st. Later bookings must make deposit within 1 week of request.
Each booking of a single or pair of hunters is not grouped with other hunters, you will have your own assigned guide each day.
Groups are welcome, but limited to 4 hunters maximum and 2 guides are generally planned. Groups of 3 may request to have only 1 assigned guide daily.
Additional days may be added at discounted rates of $350/day or $200 for half-days. These may be requested/added during your trip if the booking schedule can accommodate them.

Additional Info & Recommendation:

Average high temperatures range from 25 to 58 degrees daily. Rain is likely at some point and light snow isn’t unusual. A pair of waterproof “muck” boots can increase hunting area availability.
If ammunition is purchased beforehand, #6 or #7.5 nickel or copper coated steel or lead shot is recommended for grouse. Standard #7.5 and #8’s are sufficient for woodcock.
This is a wild bird hunt! Hunters should be in decent physical condition and able to walk 3-5 miles/day. However, this hunting is much easier than it is in the Appalachian mountains. Nevertheless, preparation and proper conditioning increases your odds by allowing the guides to hunt deeper cover away from popular areas. Walking off-trail takes practice and requires different muscle groups and coordination than most of us are used to with hiking.
DOGS: Hunters are welcome to bring their own dogs, Wing & Fly Co. staff can assist in recommendations with range and working patterns and will make a concerted effort to match your dog with cover they will excel in. We will gladly put a GPS tracking collar on your dog if you don’t have one.
Interested in the food? We generally mix the menu between cabin cooking and dining out at local restaurants. Personal preferences catered to whenever possible. Call for details or last year’s menu. General evening beverages included.
