The piedmont of North Carolina and southern Virginia abounds with farms and fields perfect for an upland excursion, allowing us to put you on birds within 30 minutes or less.  With all of the hunting opportunities so close, it’s crazy to drive for an hour or more to enjoy an afternoon of hunting.  Every trip we promote is focused on preserving the tradition of wild bird hunting.

Populations of wild bobwhite quail, ruffed grouse, or migratory woodcock are a precious resource that we do not take lightly. This trip is only for those enthusiasts who care more about the pursuit than the harvest. Hunters should expect a lot of walking and not much shooting. A small portion of each trip goes to the landowner or local conservation partner to help manage habitat.

  • Piedmont Woodcock $285
  • Managed Wild Quail (Jan3rd -Feb 28th) $550
  • Early Release Quail $490
  • High Country Grouse (Linville/Newland/Sparta) $350
  • Mountain Grouse (Asheville, Waynesville, Sylva) $400

**At least two weeks notice is required. Hunters should be in good physical condition and able to walk 3-5 miles over moderate terrain through cover. All grouse hunts are fairly strenuous. Locations and availability subject to change frequently. Add $25.00 for a 2nd or 3rd hunter. No additional charge for youth under 16.

Wing & Fly Company no longer promotes or provides preserve hunts as a general service. We do occasionally offer these hunts for repeat clients or for special circumstances (youth opportunity, dog work, or destination training). Please call for more information or for a referral to a nearby preserve.

  • General Rates for 2 Hunters
  • Half-Day Hunt (20 quail) $270*
  • Full Day Hunt (45 birds) $520*
  • 10 Pheasant + 10 Chukar $450*

*-Base price, some locations may be higher. Bird numbers can be specified, but we plan hunts to mimic wild bird behavior rather than maximize harvest.

Our hunts generally occur within a 2 hour drive from the Greensboro area. However, depending on conditions or forecast, we will recommend traveling farther to ensure a good hunt (specified by guide). Be sure to mention any planning restrictions at time of booking, as we constantly arrange travel to maximize hunting time and decrease “windshield” time.

Our guides will give their best on every trip, using their knowledge and skills to make your day in the field an enjoyable one. Tips are appreciated, but certainly not required or requested. Tipping is appropriate when you feel that your guide put forth additional efforts to make your day memorable.
